8,937.77 meters! China has broken the Asian record for the deepest vertical 1000-ton well

People's Daily Online, Beijing, March 14, (reporter Du Yanfei) Reporter learned from SINOPEC, today, located in the Tarim Basin Shunbei 84 inclined well test high yield industrial oil flow, converted oil and gas equivalent reached 1017 tons, vertical drilling depth has broken 8937.77 meters, become the deepest vertical depth of 1,000 tons well on Asian land, A new progress has been made in deep-earth engineering in the field of oil and gas exploration and exploitation.

According to Cao Zicheng, deputy chief geologist of Sinopec Northwest Oilfield, a one-kiloton well refers to a well with a daily oil and gas equivalent of more than 1,000 tons. Its oil and gas reservoirs are rich in oil and gas, and have high development value and economic value, which is the guarantee for the beneficial development of the block. Shunbei 84 deviated well is located in the No. 8 fault zone of Shunbei Oil and gas field. Seven thousand ton Wells have been explored and developed so far.

Cao said that in the country's oil and gas exploration and development, the stratum buried more than 8,000 meters is super deep. At present, the Shunbei Oil and gas field has 49 Wells with vertical depths of more than 8,000 meters, 22 kiloton Wells have been discovered in total, 400 million-ton oil and gas zones have been implemented, and 3 million tons of oil equivalent production capacity has been built, producing 4.74 million tons of crude oil and 2.8 billion cubic meters of natural gas.

"We have developed a complementary series of deep earth technologies." Officials from Sinopec said that the ultra deep Angle domain imaging technology can be realized as the earth "CT scan", accurate identification of fault zones; Ultra-deep seismic fine description and three-dimensional fault analysis technology can achieve fine delineation of fault zones and accurately lock favorable zones. The geological modeling of strike-slip fault-controlled reservoirs, fine carving of fracture-caverns and three-parameter spatial positioning technology can realize the analysis of the internal reservoir structure of the fault zone, and accurately identify the meter-level fracture-caverns in the fault zone 8,000 meters underground.

Experts believe that at present, the deep and ultra-deep layers have become the main positions of significant oil and gas discovery in China, and the Tarim Basin ranks first in the quantity of ultra-deep oil and gas resources among the major basins in China, with huge exploration and development potential.
