The main difference between a packer and a bridge plug is that the packer is generally left in the well temporarily during fracturing, acidification, leak detection and other measures, and then comes out with the pipe string after the construction is completed; while the bridge plug is used for oil production in the sealing layer While waiting for measures, leave it in the well for a period of time or permanently. Bridge plugs include permanent bridge plugs, fishable bridge plugs, and drillable bridge plugs.
Except for the seal, the whole body of the packer is made of steel parts, which can be unsealed. Generally, the well is retained at the same time as the sealing string. With the release handle, the well can be retained separately. The pressure difference is relatively low (except for fracturing seals). . In terms of fishing methods, bridge plugs can be divided into three types: fishable, drillable and fishable and drillable. All of them are sealing tools that leave wells alone and have high pressure resistance. The ones that can be fished out are similar to those of the throwing seal; the ones that can be drilled are basically cast iron parts except for the center tube; the shell, center tube and joints that can be fished out and drilled are all steel parts, and the slips are made of cast iron. In addition, bridge plugs also have valves at the bottom, and the lower layer can be opened and closed with a special cannula. These are the basic differences between packers and bridge plugs.
Both packers and bridge plugs are used to separate two sections, but the middle of the packer is empty, allowing oil, gas and water to flow freely, while the middle of the bridge plug is solid and completely sealed.
