What is FOSV?

Full-Open Safety Valve (for Drilling Operations): This is a manually controlled downhole valve used in drilling operations. It is operated via a dedicated wrench and serves as a blowout prevention measure by being connected between drill pipes.

Commonly Used Full-Lift Safety Valve: This type refers to a safety valve where the disc opening height is ≥ 1/4 of the flow path diameter. It rapidly opens fully when the medium pressure reaches the set value. Used for overpressure protection in scenarios such as boilers and pressure vessels, it is characterized by a large discharge capacity and quick reseating. However, it is typically used for gaseous media rather than liquid media.

Characteristics of the Full-Lift Safety Valve (Common Type)修改尺寸

Operating Characteristics:

In gaseous media, it pops open fully (pop action) when the pressure reaches the set value, representing a two-stage operation.

Discharge Capacity:

Possesses a large discharge capacity, enabling the rapid release of over-pressurized media.

Application Scenarios:

Primarily used for overpressure protection of gaseous media in equipment such as boilers, pressure vessels, and pipelines.

Structural Features:

Typically employs a spring-loaded mechanism, featuring a compact structure and excellent sealing performance.

Characteristics of the Full-Open Safety Valve (for Drilling)

Function:

A manually controlled valve used for blowout prevention; it is a critical component of the downhole drill string circulating system.

Operation:

Can be opened or closed by rotating it 90 degrees with a special wrench.

Installation:

Should be installed between drill pipes as a preventive measure during workover operations or when drill pipes need to be pulled up.
