What is a Venturi fishing basket in the fishing tools?

        1.Purpose

The Venturi Fishing Basket is a fishing tool used to remove various high-density debris and formation particles that are difficult to circulate to the surface downhole (it can be used for sand fishing in lost circulation wells).

2. Structure

It consists of a Venturi chamber, a filter screen, a debris cylinder, a basket, etc.

        3.Working Principle

It operates based on the Venturi principle. When high-speed fluid flows out from the nozzle in the Venturi chamber, a vacuum is formed inside the chamber, thereby generating a suction force on the external fluid. Downhole debris is swept up by the fluid and enters the fishing basket through the suction at the tool’s inlet. It is brought to the surface during tripping out. Its efficiency is higher than that of the circulating-up fishing basket, and it has a larger storage space.

        4.Technical Specification

Execution Standard: No relevant industry standards are found, and it shall be implemented in accordance with the actual product technical specification. The outer diameter of the tool is generally 6-8mm smaller than the inner diameter of the casing. The outer diameter of fallen objects is smaller than the maximum inner diameter of the basket to ensure passage. The construction displacement meets the working pressure of the tool.

        5.Operation Method

(1) Check that the tool is in good condition, the water eye is unobstructed, and the blue claws are flexible.

(2) Run down to 2-3m above the target position, start the pump to wash the well, and adjust to the working displacement of the tool.

(3) Lower slowly to the predetermined depth and suck the fallen objects into the debris cylinder.

(4) Stop the pump and pull out the drill string.

        6.Precautions

(1) Check that the tool is in good condition before running into the well

(2) Increase the displacement as much as possible if conditions permit.

        7.Maintenance

(1) Disassemble the tool, remove the captured fallen objects from the cylinder, clean and inspect each component separately. If there is any damage, replace it. Ensure the screen is intact and all water eyes are unobstructed.

(2) Apply oil to all connecting screws, reassemble the tool, soak it in engine oil for penetration, wipe it clean and store it in the warehouse.
