Landrill Oil Tools Unveils Scientific Selection Guide for Dissolvable Bridge Plugs

In the complex realm of oilfield operations, selecting the right dissolvable bridge plug is pivotal for efficient well construction and production. Landrill Oil Tools has introduced a comprehensive decision – tree – based selection guide, streamlining the process for industry professionals.

Step 1: Temperature – Driven Material Match

Formation temperature is the first key factor. It dictates the thermal stability and dissolution rate of bridge plug materials. For low – temperature environments (below 60℃), Single Slip or Compacted Double Slip models like LZ001, LZ002, and LZ022 are ideal. These offer small dimensions (length ≤ 330mm) and fast dissolution (20 – 40mg·cm⁻²·h). In medium – temperature conditions (60 – 90℃), Compacted Double Slip or Double Slip plugs such as LZ008, LZ016, and LZ027 shine, providing enhanced anchoring stability for medium – pressure (≤ 70MPa) scenarios. High – temperature (above 90℃) wells call for Double Slip or Full Metal solutions like LZ025, LZ030, and LZ031, boasting high – pressure resistance (85MPa) and all – metal corrosion resistance.

Step 2: Salinity and Corrosion Adaptation

Salinity (Cl⁻ concentration) and corrosive environments further narrow down choices. Low – salinity (below 500mg/L) wells are suited for the LZ001/LZ002 Series, with a dissolution rate of 20 – 40mg·cm⁻²·h. In high – salinity (above 15000mg/L) settings, the LZ025/LZ028 Series takes the lead, featuring a dissolution rate of 80 – 120mg·cm⁻²·h. For acidic environments (pH ≤ 3), the Full Metal LZ030 Series is recommended, thanks to its acid – resistant coating and a dissolution rate of 20 – 300mg·cm⁻²·h at high temperatures.

Step 3: Casing and Pressure Considerations

Casing size and construction pressure are also crucial. Small casings (≤ 4″) pair well with the Single Slip LZ001 (OD 89mm). High – pressure (above 70MPa) operations benefit from the Double Slip LZ025 (Pressure 85MPa), which has a bidirectional slip design for 30% higher shear strength. For deformed casings, the Compacted Double Slip LZ022 (OD 110mm) ensures passability in 4.5″ casings.

By following this decision tree, oilfield teams can precisely select dissolvable bridge plugs, optimizing well performance and ensuring seamless operations across diverse geological conditions. Landrill Oil Tools’ guide empowers the industry to tackle complex well challenges with scientific precision.
